ViruShield - Your textiles for the fight against Covid-19
Do you produce fabrics, non-wovens, knitted fabrics or laminates? Did the collapse of important sales markets, such as clothing production, free up your production capacity? Perhaps your textiles can make a valuable contribution to the protection of the population in Germany, Europe and the rest of the world.
The Institut für Textiltechnik of RWTH Aachen University, short ITA, is now testing textiles from various manufacturers for their suitability for protective masks. In addition to the filter effect, the permeability for aerosols, the textile structure, availability and costs are also being tested. The aim is to find alternative filter materials very quickly, which can help to solve the current bottlenecks in effective mask materials. In addition, alternative mask and respiratory protection concepts are being developed, which can also be used in developing and emerging countries.
We would also be pleased to test your textiles. Textiles that you provide us with will be tested at cost price. The results of the tests will of course be made available to you. Contact:
The project Virushield is supported by EIT Health. EIT Health is a network of best-in-class health innovators backed by the EU. We collaborate across borders to deliver new solutions that can enable European citizens to live longer, healthier lives. As Europeans tackle the challenge of increasing chronic diseases and multi- morbidity and seek to realise the opportunities that technology offers to move beyond conventional approaches to treatment, prevention and healthy lifestyles, we need thought leaders, innovators and efficient ways to bring innovative healthcare solutions to market. EIT Health addresses these needs. We connect all relevant healthcare players across European borders – making sure to include all sides of the “knowledge triangle”, so that innovation can happen at the intersection of research, education and business for the benefit of citizens.
