FAQ

What can I do at ITA?

You can apply for a student research project or - if you are fluent in German (DSH) - you can study at RWTH Aachen University as an exchange student.

I do not study textile engineering. Can I apply nevertheless?

Yes. Our research projects cover a wide range of subjects and we also need expertise in different areas outside textiles.

How much in advance should I apply?

6 months prior to your prefered starting date is not too early. Just inquire at your home university whether any deadlines apply.

Where can I get funding?

Please inquire at your home university for possible sources of funding. In some (rare) cases, we have funding for you but that is subject to availability and the project on which you are work.

What are the living expenses in Aachen?

You will need approx. 800 - 1000 € per month (incl. housing, food, transport).

I do not speak German. Is that a problem?

No worries. Our staff is fluent in English, so you can hand in your project report in English.

If you want to study at ITA, profound knowledge of German (DSH or equivalent) is a must as our lectures are in German only. If you want to follow courses at other institutes, that may be possible in English. If in doubt, please contact our study advisor. He will know.
