ITA receives two AVK Innovation Awards

The AVK-Industrievereinigung Verstärkte Kunststoffe e.V. awarded its innovation prizes in three categories at Composites Europe in Stuttgart on 5 November 2018.
The Institut für Textiltechnik of RWTH Aachen University, short ITA, together with the Institute for Lightweight Design with Hybrid Systems, short ILH, Paderborn University was awarded first prize in the "Research and Science" category. The prize was awarded for a "novel hybrid yarn: coating of all glass filaments in the spinning process to produce a glass-thermoplastic fibre".
In addition, the ITA won second prize with the development of the transparent fibre composite "OrganoGlas".
The prizes are awarded for innovative and forward-looking innovations, with special attention being paid to the topic of sustainability. The jury, which consists of experts from the composites industry, selected the three categories "Products and Applications", "Processes and Procedures" and "Research and Science" from a large number of high-quality entries.
