Textiles play a very important role in the health sector. And not only as dressing material, as textile student Noel shows in the video: For long-term ECG measurements, electrodes and conductor paths are integrated into a shirt using embroidery technology developed by the Institut für Textiltechnik of RWTH Aachen University. ECG signals recorded by the shirt can then be transmitted to a web platform and evaluated. Inconvenient and complex recording methods can thus be replaced.

At the beginning of the year, the "Go Textile! film series was launched. Under the title "Go Digital, so what?", trainees and students show how digital the textile industry already is. In the four video clips created to date, research projects from the Institut für Textiltechnik of RWTH Aachen University (Digital sensor fleece, ECG shirt), the Saxon Textile Research Institute STFI in Chemnitz (3D printing on fleece) and the German Institute for Textile and Fiber Research Denkendorf DITF (Sens-Hand) are presented. The message is clear: From geotextiles to textile applications in the medical sector to digitally supported workwear - textiles shape the modern world.
